Positive Affirmations for the Week of May 8-14, Trust

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

Greetings! In this message, I’ll give you an overview of the next seven days of the DailyAffirm Process. The sidebars provide you with additional information. Read the messages Day by Day, or simply check in when the spirit moves you. If you prefer to receive the daily messages by email, please subscribe to one of our email alert lists (check the options at the bottom of the navigation bar).

Remind yourself of your over-arching intention for Trust.

About Receiving/Accepting Affirmations and Trust
Trust is closely related to safety. If you feel safe, you are more likely to trust. If you feel safe and trusting, it is easier to open. Sometimes you may be required to step into a void and pretend that you are trusting when you do not really feel trusting. When you do this, the feeling of trust can more naturally follow because you have imagined and practiced the feeling.

About Your Process in the Second Week
How can you open to trust when you do not feel safe and/or trusting? Here is a worthy question for you to ponder from time to time through the week. Notice when you naturally feel safe and trusting. Notice your thoughts and beliefs; notice your feelings and sensations. Become aware. You may find it helpful to develop a vertical number scale — a Trust Thermometer — so that you can determine more easily how you feel and/or think. For example, you might assign "-10" at the bottom to the idea of "total distrust" and "+10" at the top to the idea of "total trust," with various levels of distrust and trust as gradations between. As you become more and more aware, you will find it easier to trust yourself to trust a situation or another person. If your inner prompting says "be still," be still. If your inner prompting says "act," act. Trust yourself.

About the Affirmations in the Second Week
If I were to select the definitive affirmation for the week to represent receiving and accepting for Trust it would be the affirmation for May 10: "I allow trust to flow through me. I accept the truth from a higher Source." The higher Source, of course, is right inside you; it flows through you; it is you.

Make this an ACCEPTional week!

Positive Affirmations for the Week of April 8-14, Clarity

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

Greetings! In this message, I’ll give you an overview of the next seven days of the DailyAffirm Process. The sidebars provide you with additional information. Read the messages Day by Day or, simply check in when the spirit moves you. If you prefer to receive the daily messages by email, please subscribe to one of our email alert lists (check the options on the navigation bar).

About Receiving/Accepting Affirmations and Clarity
This week’s affirmations are focused on opening to clarity. You receive or accept with the same consciousness in which you give, so this week look at both giving and receiving, and the accompanying attitudes. Examples of receiving are: meditation, relaxing at the beach, having a massage, listening to a friend. Examples of giving are: writing a payment check to the electric company, giving a special item wrapped in colorful paper to Grandma, expressing a compliment. Receiving is receiving. Giving is giving. Also, giving is receiving; receiving is giving. The package is merely the vehicle for your consciousness. The consciousness of love and peace and abundance can permeate all your experiences — giving, receiving, starting, stopping, emptying out, acting, integrating, etc.

About your Process in the Second Week
When I think of the concept of "opening" I often think of a child in a gentle rainstorm with arms and face upward, with an open heart and total trust in the universe. Sometimes this picture includes movement, like a dance; sometimes it is more like a still photo. Always, it is joyful. Your picture may vary from mine, but here is the key question: What is the consciousness of your receiving and accepting? I encourage you to pay special attention to your consciousness during this week.

About the Affirmations in the Second Week
If I were to select the definitive affirmation for the week to represent receiving and accepting for clarity it would be the affirmation for April 13: "I accept clarity, peace, and order in all aspects of my life." It is simple, yet expansive.

Make this an ACCEPTional week!

Positive Affirmations for the Week of February 8-14, Love

Friday, February 8th, 2008

Greetings! In this message, I’ll give you an overview of the next seven days of the DailyAffirm Process with Receiving/Accepting Affirmations. The sidebars provide you with additional information. Read the messages Day by Day or, simply check in when the spirit moves you. If you prefer to receive the daily messages by email, please subscribe to one of our email alert lists (see navigation bar).

About Receiving/Accepting Affirmations and Love
You must be open to allow love to flow into you. You may already be naturally open and fully invested in life. Or you may need to open. Love is a creative energy that must circulate in order to exist in the human plane. Love is a powerful friend that can teach you more about yourself and the world than any other energy. It is time to give up struggle and preoccupation with non-love elements. These have been teachers in the past, so acknowledge them as part of the old paradigm. Accept your teachings through love and joy and peace.

About your Process in the Second Week
This is the week of Valentine’s Day, typically a day that you are likely to profess romantic and sometimes platonic love. Consider the symbols of love that you will use this week to express love and affection: chocolates? hearts? flowers? diamonds? a love letter? or perhaps something more original and less traditional? Just remember that the symbol is only a representation, a way to re-present your true feelings. You can invest considerable power in the symbol, yet it is true love that really matters.

About the Affirmations in the Second Week
If I were to select the definitive affirmation for the week to represent receiving and accepting for Love it would be the affirmation of February 11: “Dear God, allow me to see love and loving in ways that I can understand.” Confusion about love is prevalent in our culture. While there are universal spiritual understandings of love, you must define love in your own ways in your own life.

Make this a love-erly week!

Positive Affirmations for the Week of December 8-14, Mastery

Saturday, December 8th, 2007

Greetings! In this message, I’ll give you an overview of the next seven days of the DailyAffirm Process. The sidebars provide you with additional information. Read the messages Day by Day or, simply check in when the spirit moves you. If you prefer to receive the daily messages by email, please subscribe to one of our email lists (check the options on the navigation bar).

Remind yourself of your over-arching intention for mastery.

About Receiving/Accepting Affirmations and Mastery
This week the affirmations encourage you to open to receive and accept mastery, even though you may not truly know what mastery is. Trust enough to allow mastery to show up in your life. Trust that you will recognize this mastery in any form it may appear. Or maybe you do not recognize mastery when it first shows up — no problem! You’ll get another chance and another chance and another chance. Life is a process that keeps creating new opportunities.

About Your Process in the Second Week
Imagine a world in which you live in mastery. What would that world look like? Paint your picture with words or colors or shapes. Let yourself become a painter or screenwriter or sculptor. Let your characters find their places or play their roles in your mind’s eye or through written dialogue or computer-generated images. Consider how you can be empowered and live in mastery. In this role of screenwriter or artist, you may find it easier to recognize that the world does not need to change in order for you to live in mastery. You need to change, and that is an ongoing process.

About the Affirmations in the Second Week
If I were to select the definitive affirmation for the week to represent receiving and accepting for Mastery, it would be the affirmation for December 9: “I receive goodness from the Universe. I recognize every situation as a means of receiving goodness.” It is essential to know that every situation is truly an opportunity for experiencing mastery. You do not need to wait for a particular set of circumstances or a magic formula in order to be happy or to evolve. All you have to do is show up for the present situation in the present moment and live right there!

Make this a receptive week!

Positive Affirmations for the Week of November 8-14, Surrender

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

Greetings! In this message, I’ll give you an overview of the next seven days of the DailyAffirm Process at http://www.DailyAffirm.com. The sidebars provide you with additional information. Read the messages Day by Day or, simply check in when the spirit moves you. If you prefer to receive the daily messages by email, please subscribe to one of our email alert lists.

Remind yourself of your over-arching intention for surrender.

About Receiving/Accepting Affirmations and Surrender
You will need to open, allow, receive, accept, and trust in order for the ideas represented in these affirmations to be most effective. Open to a consciousness deeper than the words because the mere repetition of words — no matter how enlightened — is not responsible for transforming your life. Dip into the consciousness of surrender to higher power. With your attention fixed on this consciousness, your vibrations lift and you’re transformed. Open to Spirit. Let your own individual energy field be a place for the goodness of the Universe to plant its seeds.

About Your Process in the Second Week
If you read this weekly message to serve as an overview for the daily messages . . .
Identify the consciousness in which you desire to be when you open the daily messages this week. To what do you want to open yourself? Which of the affirmations are particularly intriguing to you?

If you read this weekly message and then daily use the book “Affirmations: A Pathway to Transformation” . . .
Consider the consciousness with which you desire to approach the book, read the words, turn the pages. As you open the book or look at the already-open book, consider the deeper meanings of each message.

If you read this weekly message just to see if something leaps out at you . . .
Open to let the words speak to you deeply. Perhaps only one single idea speaks to you, perhaps none, perhaps many. What is the consciousness in which you open to these affirmations?

About the Affirmations in the Second Week
If I were to select the definitive affirmation for the week to represent receiving and accepting for Surrender, it would be the affirmation for November 11: “Dear God, allow me to see surrender in a way that I can understand.” While many readers of DailyAffirm tell me that they deeply embrace this month’s theme, there are others who are afraid to surrender because of past associations with surrendering as an act of failure or disempowerment. So this affirmation helps you to ask the Universe to teach you in your own language what you need to know about surrender.

Make this a wonderful week!

Positive Affirmations for the Week of October 8-14, Freedom

Monday, October 8th, 2007

Greetings! In this message, I will give you an overview of the next seven days of the DailyAffirm Process at DailyAffirm, http://www.DailyAffirm.com. The sidebars provide you with additional information. Read the messages Day by Day or, simply check in when the spirit moves you. If you prefer to receive the daily messages by email, please subscribe to one of our email alert lists (check the options at the bottom of the navigation bar). Make your process work for you.

Remind yourself of your over-arching intention for freedom.

About Receiving/Accepting Affirmations and Freedom
The purpose of Receiving/Accepting Affirmations is to open yourself for something to be or to happen. They allow you to experience freedom, perhaps in a way you have not done before. When you are receptive, you can neutralize the misqualification of energy; that is, you can eliminate the bondage of illness, erase the restrictions of limited thinking, and reverse other misuse of energy. This week’s affirmations help shift the attention from disempowering actions such as “getting” or “taking” to more freeing actions such as, “receiving” and “allowing” and “being” and “accepting.” Relax into the power of acceptance.

About your Process in the Second Week
If you have felt unfree in a particular way or in a particular area of your life, you may find that you want to put your attention initially this week on an area in which you already feel free. Or perhaps focus on a specific event in the past when you felt free. This opens you to appreciate the feeling or essence of freedom — imagine the feeling, remember it, feel it, see it, etc. Notice the dynamics of freedom. Touch and appreciate freedom. Then . . . acknowledge that you have created this experience. Then . . . shift your attention to an area in which you wish to experience similar feelings of freedom. Carefully bring in all the dynamics you remember from the other experience. Oops, don’t drop the good feelings by letting your head tell you these are two different situations. Stay with the feelings you have created that tell you that you are/were free. Repeat this exercise until you can more easily accept the feelings of freedom regardless of the situation.

About the Affirmations in the Second Week
If I were to select the definitive affirmation for the week to represent receiving and accepting for Freedom it would be the affirmation for the first day, October 8: “I open to allow freedom to operate in my life. I shift my attention from ‘freedom from’ to ‘freedom to.’” I love this affirmation because I have found repeatedly that many persons feel that they are locked into something or someone, or restricted from doing something. People often want to get “free from” something. This, indeed, may be a worthy goal. However, once “freed from” something or someone, you usually re-create a similar bondage with another person or thing. On the other hand, “freedom to” opens a wider scope of possibilities in which to experience freedom.

Make this a quality week!

Positive Affirmations for the Week of September 8-14, Abundance

Saturday, September 8th, 2007

Greetings! In this message, I will give you an overview of the next seven days of the DailyAffirm Process. The sidebars provide you with additional information. Read the messages Day by Day or, simply check in when the spirit moves you. If you prefer to receive the daily messages by email, please subscribe to one of our email alert lists (check the options at the bottom of the navigation bar).

Remind yourself of your over-arching intention for Abundance.

About Receiving/Accepting Affirmations and Abundance
To be able to receive abundance is perhaps the most important concept related to our theme of abundance. While I generally prefer to state what is and often hesitate to give too much attention to what is not, this seems to be a time to explain the not-it. Receiving abundance is not grabbing something, not deflecting compliments, not feeling guilty about having something that someone else does not have, not saying “oh, you shouldn’t have,” not a lucky guess / opportunity / break, not available only to those who are smart / rich / of a particular race or color / lucky / hard working, not having lots of money, not manipulating to get something. Phew! Lots of nots; lots of knots.

Receiving abundance runs parallel to the ability to trust unconditionally that the Universe responds to all your needs and wants. You must receive the response. In other words, the sentiment “I’ll trust the Universe as long as that check shows up by September 15, otherwise, forget it!” does not qualify as unconditional trust. You must accept that you are in a process of receiving abundance and that it comes in many ways: through your own ingenuity, opening your eyes to the majesty of the earth, appreciation from friends and families, gifts, food that grows from the soil, creativity, synergy of ideas.

About your Process in the Second Week
If you feel “hooked” on the belief that money and abundance are synonymous, I suggest that you work with a process of uplifting your gratitude to the true Source. Whenever something you desire comes into your life, thank both the physical source and the Divine Source. One example: you receive your paycheck on Friday afternoon: Thank your job (or your boss or your skills) and then thank the Divine (or God or The One or the angels or Spirit). Another example: you see (your eyes receive) a beautiful oil painting: thank the artist (or the art gallery or the artist’s inspiration) and then thank the Divine. Even though the Divine is First Cause (and is truly the One to be thanked first), this process trains you to shift from the physical form or appearance to the true Source. Also, the Divine does not need your appreciation: you are the one most fed when you feel or express appreciation.

And if you do not feel hooked on the belief that money and abundance are synonymous, bravo. You still have an assignment (if you choose to accept it): Be a witness of any example that indicates a call for abundance. Notice I say “witness,” not “judge” and not “reporter” and not “teacher.” When you witness the call for abundance, send your thanks to the Source. Your gratitude need not have any content, just loving energy. Sprinkle thanksgiving and love wherever you place your attention, then see miracles manifest.

About the Affirmations in the Second Week
If I were to select the definitive affirmation for the week to represent receiving and accepting for Abundance, I would combine two affirmations: the one for September 13, “I accept abundance in all aspects of my life. I shift my attention from visible means of support to invisible means of support” and for September 10, “I allow the energy of abundance to flow through me. I recognize that giving and receiving are the same.” The merged affirmation would be: “I recognize that giving and receiving are the same, as I shift my attention from visible means of support to invisible means of support.” These concepts are very important as you continue to lift your consciousness about abundance.

Make this a positive week!

Positive Affirmations for the Week of August 8-14, Peace

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

Remind yourself of your over-arching intention for Transformation.

About Receiving/Accepting Affirmations and Peace
This week’s affirmations are focused on opening to peace and allowing it into your life. You can accept (and yes, of course, you can choose not to accept) peace into your inner space, into your relationships, into your community, into your world. This is an extraordinary week to remind yourself that you have choices.

About your Process in the Second Week
As you continue to work with these affirmations as well as the other methods you have chosen to facilitate your personal and spiritual growth, you can find it easier to believe that you create your own experiences. As you allow the energy of peace to reside in your consciousness, you find that you create more and more experiences that are peaceful and peace-giving. Here’s a question for you to ponder for the week as you are opening wider and wider to peace: “Where can I put my attention to expand the consciousness of peace?”

About the Affirmations in the Second Week
If I were to select the definitive affirmation for the week to represent receiving and accepting for Peace it would be the affirmation for August 9: “I recognize that the Universe is like a symphony, with many parts, players, sounds, and rhythms, creating the whole.” I particularly love this one because it is a musical way to remember that the whole picture has parts that give it interest and movement.

Make this an extraordinary week!

Positive Affirmations for the Week of July 8-14, Transformation

Sunday, July 8th, 2007

Greetings! In this message, I’ll give you an overview of the next seven days of the DailyAffirm Process at DailyAffirm. The sidebars provide you with additional information. Read the messages Day by Day or, simply check in when the spirit moves you. If you prefer to receive the daily messages by email, please subscribe to our email list.

Remind yourself of your over-arching intention for Transformation.

About Receiving/Accepting Affirmations and Transformation
Opening to receive and accept transformation requires that you allow the unknown to happen. My empowerment consulting work focuses on planned change; more focuses on unplanned change! Even planned change involves a considerable amount of unplanned change. As resistance, blockages, and fears — the stuff you focused on releasing last week — dissolve or at least lessen, you can more easily open. But even if you still have some resistance, blockages, and fears, you can open to receive what you want. You cannot wait to be resistance-free to receive gifts from the Universe! Everything works together.

About your Process in the Second Week
As you work with the affirmations this week, consider the extent to which you are open to change, and how you are open. I do not suggest that you become overly preoccupied with analyzing your openness to change, just more aware than you ordinarily are. If you are sensitive to energy, you may want to do this energetically; that is, consider the extent to which you notice how energy flows through you as you face or consider a certain issue.

About the Affirmations in the Second Week
If I were to select the definitive affirmation for the week to represent receiving and accepting for Transformation it would be the affirmation for July 11: “Dear God, allow me to see transformation in a way that I can understand.” It is really a prayer asking the Universe (God, the Divine, Infinite Source, All That Is) to show you transformation in a way that is understandable to you.

Make this an opening week!

Positive Affirmations for the Week of June 8-14, Joy

Friday, June 8th, 2007

Remind yourself of your over-arching intention for Joy.

About Receiving/Accepting Affirmations and Joy
I am aware of the relief to finish releasing non-joy. It is also a JOY to release non-joy. There is a readiness for so many of the persons with whom I work to LIVE in joy. How about you? Are you ready to enjoy life? Acknowledge that joy is all around you and in you. Open to joy. Open and receive.

About Your Process in the Second Week
Do you remember when you were a little child? (We all are still children, of course, but that is another story.) Here is a scenario: It’s a rainy day in the country, a park, or the street. The rain is either warm and gentle or it is cool during a hot spell. You are six years old. With your mouth in a broad grin, you turn your face upward, eyes closed, tongue out. It tastes sooo good. It feels sooo good. You trust the rain. You are open.

I encourage you this week to identify an image that represents receiving goodness from the Universe. The image I have described in the above paragraph may resonate with you or not. Remember or create one that does. The more childlike, the better. Throughout the week if you notice that you are turning away from joy or that you have closed laughter or fun from your life, remember your image. Be a joyous child.

About the Affirmations in the Second Week
If I were to select the definitive affirmation for the week to represent receiving and accepting for Joy, it would be “I accept (or receive) joy in all aspects of my life.” Another affirmation also leaps out at me this week. It is the one for June 12: “Joy, you are my friend. Let’s play together!” Perhaps that is just because I am in a playful mood.

Make this a receptive week!
